Camp Activities

Are you fascinated by the natural world and all of its beauty? Do you have a passion for the conservation and management of wildlife and habitat? Interested in pursuing a career in a wildlife or a natural resource related field? If so, then this is the summer camp for you!

At the Wildlife Conservation Camp, campers will experience one week in the great outdoors learning from wildlife and natural resource professionals from around the State of Texas. This multi-faceted approach explores wildlife and plant ecology, species identification, tracking, trapping, monitoring, habitat investigations, management strategies, hunter education, and conservation ethics, and much more! Due to the current COVID-19 situation the Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society (TCTWS) Board and Wildlife Conservation Camp Committee, based on the guidelines and policies from The Wildlife Society, have decided to cancel the 2020 Wildlife Conservation Camp for the health and wellbeing for all those involved.

We would like to thank all those professional and college mentors, presenters, returning campers, and new campers that have applied and volunteered their time with us already this year in preparing for camp. We hope we can look forward to your applications, presentations, and support next year. Our Camp Director and Committee will be contacting those of you who have applied and or donated to camp to discuss how we will proceed moving forward. Camp will be held at the Rob and Bessie Welder Wildlife Foundation, July 11–17, 2021, and be directed by Angie Arredondo.

Our Camp Committee and the Board will continue to work tirelessly to ensure a fun, safe, and educational camp for all participating next year! Please continue to check our website and our Facebook page for more updates and great resources for students to access until we can all meet again for a fantastic camp in 2021.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact our Camp Director anytime. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter, and we wish you and your families are safe and healthy during this time.

Thank you,
Wildlife Conservation Camp Committee & TCTWS President
