July 2019 Camp Location

July 7 – July 13, 2018
Clear Fork Ranch near Abilene, TX

The first Wildlife Conservation Camp was held at the Rob & Bessie Welder Wildlife Foundation near Sinton, Texas in 1993. Since this time, Camp has often found its way back to the Foundation. This 7,800 acre privately owned and operated wildlife refuge and research facility is home to an abundance of diverse plants and animals. Habitats are composed of species from the fabulous South Texas Brush County and Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes ecoregions.

To learn more about the Welder Wildlife Foundation visit the Welder Wildlife website or call (361) 364-2643.

This year campers will have the opportunity to visit the Sproul Ranch in the beautiful Davis Mountains. At this unique location campers can observe and study species such as white-tailed deer, elk, javelina, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, snakes, and hundreds of species of birds, including several found only in the sky islands of the Trans-Pecos region of Texas. Campers will also enjoy the traditional mid-week water day with a trip to Balmorhea State Park for some fun in the sun!

Lodging and Meals

Campers will stay on-site at the Sproul Ranch in separate male/female facilities. Females will share hotel-style rooms and males will share a large tent or large room. Thanks to the high elevation, night time temperatures are comfortable for tent camping most summer nights and can be a bit chilly in the mornings. Camp cooks will prepare three delicious meals a day. Additional snacks will not be provided but we promise you will not go hungry!
